DeWitt Man Killed in US 165 Head-On Crash

In a tragic accident, a DeWitt man lost his life in a US 165 head-on crash in Arkansas County, on Thursday, September 30.

The collision involved an SUV and a tractor-trailer.

According to the preliminary police report, the accident happened at 5:20 p.m. when a man, identified as Patravius R. Grayson, aged 29, was headed south on US 165 driving a Chevrolet Traverse, 2016.

The accident occurred near a bridge on the Arkansas River.

The SUV crossed the center line into the northbound traffic lane, whereas the tractor-trailer swerved into the southbound lane to avoid the vehicle.

The Chevrolet veered back into the southbound lane and hit the truck head-on.

Grayson was killed in the US 165 head-on crash.

In Garland County, another crash involving a tractor-trailer killed a man, aged 76, earlier on September 30, according to a police report.

The man, identified as Jimmy Barnard Sr. from Bonnerdale was heading out of a parking lot on the south US 70 in a Honda CR-V, 2004 make, at around 3:50 p.m. when the crash occurred.

The report says that Barnard drove into the path of a westbound truck, as he crossed the highway to enter North Pearcy Road.

The truck collided with the passenger side of the vehicle.

Barnard was rushed to CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs where he couldn’t sustain his injuries and died.

Conditions at the time of both crashes were clear and dry.
