Who is allowed to text and drive in the state of Arkansas?
“No one,” said, attorney Sean Keith.
All drivers in the state of Arkansas are banned from sending text messages while driving, except in emergencies.
A person under the age of 20 is banned from making “handheld” phone calls meaning the person is not allowed to hold his or her phone while driving; however a person under 20 is allowed to use a hands-free device for their cell phone, such as a Bluetooth headset or hands-free calling through the car’s stereo system.
A person under the age of 18 is banned from all cell phone use while the vehicle is in motion.
And although the law is clear about texting and phone calls while driving.
“The law is less clear about looking at a phone to read something,” said Keith.
