Home » Arkansas Police Investigating Single-Vehicle Accident That Killed a Minor
The Arkansas State Police are currently investigating a single-vehicle accident that killed a minor and injured another person.
The crash occurred along Highway 140 and Buel Lane in Poinsett County on Saturday, November 14, around 6:30 am.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when a truck driving west on Highway 140 failed to anticipate a curve as it approached Buel Lane.
The truck drove off the road and hit the embankment’s bottom, sending the truck into the air.
Before hitting the ground again, the vehicle traveled approximately 175 additional feet.
It overturned several times before ending up on Buel Lane.
The vehicle occupants were identified as 28-year-old Otto Timbs of Lepanto, and a minor, whose identity has not been disclosed.
Timbs and the minor were both ejected from the vehicle during the accident.
Reports indicate that the minor was killed during the crash.
Timbs was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
The Arkansas State Police reported that the weather didn’t appear to be a factor at the time of the accident.
The roadway was clear and dry at the time of the accident.
They have also not been able to determine who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
At this time, there are no other updates on Timbs’ condition or the extent of the injuries he sustained as a result of being ejected from the vehicle.
The accident is still under investigation.
Based on research done on rollover crashes, those in which occupants are ejected from the vehicle have a higher mortality rate than those without ejection.
